If you know me in real life, you know how magnificently I can take something simple and make it complex. Or better yet—incomprehensible.
If you’ve ever heard me try to explain the Jesus Prayer and how it’s so jam-packed with everything a Christian should pray for, or how he should pray, or why he should pray, you know what I mean. I usually just refer people to Frederica Matthewes-Green’s book on the topic and say, “That’s why.”
But the other day I was reading “The Church at Prayer” by Archimandrite Aimilianos at trapeza. In the second chapter, “The Prayer of the Holy Mountain,” Aimilianos gives a beautiful, short explanation of the prayer. One thing led to another, and I made a short video. Enjoy.
